Geoff Ball - Christchurch

Owner & Managing Director

Geoff Ball left school at just 15 years old, eager to start building his future. He embarked on an apprenticeship with JJ Construction, a company that focused primarily on building State Houses. Through hard work, dedication, and a strong belief in the value of homeownership, Geoff rose through the ranks, establishing himself as a successful and passionate advocate for homeownership.

At the age of 17, Geoff took the step and bought his first home, a milestone that set the foundation for his unwavering commitment to homeownership.  Geoff is a firm believer that a mortgage is effectively a compulsory savings scheme.   Geoff strongly believes that people should be able to own their own home in this country.

Geoff Ball is no stranger to the West Coast.  His relationship started over 30 years ago when he purchased a block of land at Moana that resulted in a 39 section sub division called Kotuku Views overlooking Lake Brunner.  30 years on and he is over halfway through the development of Paroa Estate and Kaiata Park and Paparoa Views is well underway.

With Hagley Windows and Doors being Geoff’s main business in Christchurch, Geoff’s commitment to Hagley and the West Coast has remained a priority for him throughout his working life.

Julie Ball - Christchurch

Interior Designer/Project Manager

Julie is married to Geoff and is involved in the West Coast business’s as well as being a Mum.  For 2 ½ years Julie and two of their children lived in Paroa Estate and the children attended Paroa School.  The West Coast is a great place to raise a family as there is so much to do and be involved in within the community.  Paroa Estate allowed “our kids to be kids” and have the freedom that you don’t find so much in big cities anymore.

Julie enjoys family time, especially watching her children grow and develop.  She also loves seeing the progress at Paroa Estate and Kaiata Park.  She assists with the designs and selection of colours for the houses that Ball Developments have built.  Geoff and Julie spend a lot of time discussing planning ideas and concepts on the various projects that they have on the go.  She is very proud of the homes that they have completed to date.

Julie says that the best part of her job is that she gets to spend so much time with the person she loves and has flexibility to be involved as well as being a Mum to her children.

Our History

The Beginning: A Vision for Growth at Moana

In 1994, Ball Developments embarked on its journey with the purchase of land at Moana. This acquisition paved the way for the development of Kotuku Views, a 39-section subdivision offering breathtaking views of Lake Brunner. The Moana project marked the beginning of a long-standing commitment to developing quality homes in prime locations on the West Coast.

A Growing Market: Meeting the Demand for Housing

Today, there is one section left in Stage 1 of Paparoa Views, and further stages are already underway. With recent government greenlighting of mining projects in the area, the demand for housing is expected to increase even further. The Greymouth District is facing a housing shortage, with a need for homes to accommodate miners and their families.

Ball Developments is strategically positioned to address this challenge, offering a range of residential and rural residential sites that cater to a variety of buyers. Whether you are looking to invest in property, build your dream home, or join a growing community, Paparoa Views offers an ideal location with easy access to Greymouth’s amenities.
