Kaiata Park, situated six minutes North of the Greymouth CBD, has a commercial and industrial offering. This was originally encouraged by the Grey District Council in 2008 to meet anticipated demand from Pike River. Ball Development’s Managing Director, Geoff Ball says recent government moves to reinvigorate the West Coast mining industry has seen a strong demand for housing emerge along with the tourism boom.
“We felt it was the right time to develop planning for the residential aspect to Kaiata Park and change the use of some of the industrial and commercial land to residential,” explains Geoff. Adjoining Kaiata Park, the company is now establishing Paparoa Views which is a residential development. The location is ideal as it is away from risk of coastal erosion, it’s not vulnerable to slips or flooding and is fully serviced.
